There were lofty expectations from Tamil Nadu batter Sai Sudarshan in the ongoing first England vs India Test in Leeds. The southpaw, who earned his spot in the playing XI on the back of stellar returns in domestic cricket and in the IPL 2025 season playing for GT, was handed a debut cap by Cheteshwar Pujara. However, after waiting for 23 overs to bat, Sudarshan could not make an impact on his debut Test innings as he was dismissed for a four-ball duck. The 23-year-old became the 29th Indian batter to have been out for a blob in the red-ball format.
Coming to the crease after a good first wicket stand between KL Rahul and Jaiswal, Sudarshan needed to carry on the good start. However, he looked extremely anxious at the crease, and there was a palpable nervousness. All the southpaw needed to do was play sensibly minutes before the lunch break. However, the 23-year-old failed to do so as he was strangled down the leg side.
