The Hampshire County Cricket Club has confirmed the signing of Indian batter Tilak Verma for the upcoming county season. The southpaw will be playing four matches for the club, starting with the game against Essex.
Tilak has established himself in the middle-order of India's T20I setup. He has played 25 matches having scored 749 runs, including two centuries in the series against South Africa in 2024.
Currently, with the Indian team scheduled to play a five-match Test series against England, this is a perfect time for Tilak to gain some county experience. There were previous reports of Tilak joining the club, which has now been finalised.

Tilak Verma - A Household Name In IPL Cricket
Tilak Verma has also been able to make an impact in the IPL for Mumbai Indians having scored almost 1500 runs for them since joining them in 2022. In 54 matches, he has eight fifties at an average of 37.47 and a strike rate of 144.41.
Hampshire's Director of Cricket, Giles White has welcomed Tilak into the club saying that it is fantastic to have him and the club is looking forward to his contribution.
"It's fantastic to have Tilak available for the next four County Championship matches,. He's an exciting talent who has already made a big impact on the international stage and in the IPL, and we look forward to seeing what he can do for Hampshire this summer" Giles White, Director of Cricket, said.
As Tilak joins the club, Hampshire sits seventh in the County Championship Division One having recorded their best finish since 2005. The southpaw will play his first game against Essex between June 22-25. He next plays against Worcestershire from June 29 to July 2.

Tilak Verma's First-Class Numbers
Talking about Tilak Verma's red-ball credentials, he has played just 18 matches in first-class. He has also played for India A in the Duleep Trophy and two matches against England Lions in early 2024. In his brief career, he has already amassed over 1200 runs with five centuries and four fifties at an average of 50.16. A red-ball stint with Hampshire is sure to better him as a player for hi longer future in international cricket.
